Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening is a procedure that restores the natural color of your teeth. There are many teeth whitening techniques offered at our dental office that we will review next. Our dentist at Penn Premier Dental in Exton Pennsylvania recommends various teeth whitening products based on the needs of our patients. It is important to note that teeth whitening has improved and now there are safer options for both sensitive and non-sensitive teeth that will not damage your enamel.  We would love to help you achieve the smile you've been looking for, so if you want more information on the procedures or products mentioned below, don't hesitate to call us to schedule an appointment with our team.

Opalescence

Opalescence consists of custom made trays that our dentist provides at our office. This kit allows you to get professional whitening results in the comfort of their own home. This treatment is great for people who suffer from teeth sensitivity.

Take-Home Trays

Take-home whitening trays are a type of teeth whitening procedure that you can perform at the comfort of your home. This is an easy and cost-effective teeth whitening treatment that can be easily obtained. You must follow the instructions given by our dentist to see the results at home. Although they can be a convenient option, obtaining great results can take longer than other treatments and they don’t always work well for deep stains. These trays are custom made to go over your teeth, and whiten your teeth through a special gel that is found on the inside of the trays.

These trays, once made for you, can then be taken home as a teeth whitening kit, along with the guidelines given by our dentist. The time period that they must remain on your teeth can vary according to your teeth whitening needs.

How do they Work?

Custom whitening trays are trays that are clear and are usually made of a clear plastic that comfortably adjust when inserted. A small dollop of gel is inserted in each tray, giving them their whitening properties. The gel consists of a hydrogen peroxide solution that actively whitens the enamel of the teeth.

  • After they have been used and are taken off, they need to be cleaned with a Q-tip or a cloth and rinsed. This makes them ready to be used again. It is not recommended to use them for at least another day, after each application.

  • These whitening trays can be used several times to achieve the desired results. Our dentist can further advice on how many times they should be used in your case.

Zoom!

Zoom is a bleaching process widely used to lighten discoloration of enamel and dentin. Tooth discoloration may result from drinking coffee, tea, cola and red wine, or from smoking. The aging process also can stain and darken your teeth. The Zoom in-office tooth whitening procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp – to accelerate the bleaching process – to activate the 25 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening gel. As the hydrogen peroxide is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin to bleach the stained substances, leaving the structure of the tooth unchanged.
